Tuesday Tunes

This week's Tuesday Tune is from another one of those bands that my brother introduced me to. You would think with him being the younger brother I would influence his music, but no. It was him who has influenced mine.

Dishwalla is another one of those Alternative Rock bands that I listened to in my late teens and early 20s. And actually even list to today. My favorite album Opaline was released in 2002. There are so many songs on this album that I love. The entire album is one of those that I can listen to from beginning to end without skipping one song.

My favorite song from the Album is "Somewhere In The Middle". It's one that I love to sing along with. Even tho I love to sing along with almost any song. Even if I don't know the worlds *grins*.

I hope you enjoy this week's song. I know I do.

Somewhere In The Middle
Dishwalla

I was out the other day
and I saw you in your big black car
and I was waving as you were passing
cause I know who you are
you had this look that of an angel
it was such a bad disguise
did you think for second I would not realize

tripping hard falling down onto the ground
cause I can't stand up
and I can't fall down
cause I'm somewhere in the middle of this

I was out the other night
and I saw you so we had a fight
it was late and I was lonely
and its such a long way home
so I asked you if you'd join me
for a single last call drink
so you turned and bought us 2
and you didn't even blink
you had this look that of an angel
it was such a bad disguise
when you drink it makes you angry
when I drink I want you more and more and more

tripping hard falling down onto the ground
cause I can't stand up
and I can't fall down
and I'm somewhere in the middle of this

well I find it hard
I always tried to find the sane life
but I don't like the way things are
and I keep falling to my knees
somewhere in the middle of this

Tuesday Tunes

It's Tuesday Tunes time. This post is actually also my 100th post, and what better way to celebrate a 100th post by posting something about Music, one of my favorite things.

One band that I totally love that makes me think of my brother is Collective Soul. There are actually a lot of bands that I listen to that make me think of my brother, but this one is kinda special.

Many years ago my Dad took Mom to a trip in Alaska. Jeremy was young and still living at home, like 17 or something. I was on my own, and I think Emalee was married... well anyway, my point was, Jeremy went to a C Soul concert with a friend and his parents, ended up getting concussed, and I had to take care of him. OH, and that's the same trip that I killed the Geo. Yeah... so C Soul brings back the memories.

My favorite C Soul album is Dosage. I listen to it the most out of the 3 i have of theirs. I couldn't find my favorite song on the album, Dandy Life, so i went with my second favorite song. I hope you guys enjoy it!

NEEDS
Collective Soul

All around me I see what weakness has made
Too much tomorrow I think I'll take all today
Am I a poison, Am I a thorn in the side
Am I a picture, perfect subject tonight

I don't need nobody
I don't need the weight of words to find a way
To crash on through
I don't need nobody
I just need to learn the depth
Or doubt of faith to fall into

Here I slumber to awaken my daze
I find convenience in this savior I save
Am I a prison, Am I a source of dire news
Am I a picture perfect reason for you

I don't need nobody
I don't need the weight of words to find a way
To crash on through
I don't need nobody
I just need to learn the depth or doubt
Of faith to fall into

In this time of substitute
It's my needs I've answered to (All the while)
And the hope that I invest
Still turns to signals of distress (All the while)

I don't need nobody
I don't need the weight of words to find a way
To crash on through
I don't need nobody
I just need to learn the depth or doubt
Of faith to fall into

You're all I need
When the water runs deep
You're all I need
Now I cry my soul to sleep
You're all I need
You're all I need
You're all I need
You're all I need

Act FAST!

This morning the father of a very good friend of mine had a stroke. They don't know the full extent of the damage yet, but he is doing well. He's alive and aware of what's going on around him.

I thought that today's blog would be about the signs of a stroke, and give some reference sites about learning more information about a stroke.

The signs of a stroke are incredibly important to take note of and to respond to as urgently as possible. A stroke happens in the brain, the body’s central location for decision making, for movement, for feelings and of course for keeping everything working properly. When a stroke happens here, the body is likely to be damaged in some way, depending on what type of stroke you are experiencing, the depth of the stroke and how long it takes for help to be administered. This happens very quickly and the level of detriment is determined by many factors. (from signs of a stroke

The Faster you act. The better you are!

Postcrossing...

I've had many people ask me what Postcrossings is. Every few days or so I'll send a postcard out, and when I do this it sends a message thru my Twitter account.

I LOVE postcards. I love receiving postcards from friends who have visited different places. I learned about postcrossings thru some site or another and had to sign up. I love getting a postcard from some different country from someone I don't know. It's just a little piece of sunshine in the day. I've even made 2 new pen pals doing this.

The project

The goal of this project is to allow people to receive postcards from all over the world, for free. Well, almost free! The main idea is that: if you send a postcard, you will receive at least one back from a random Postcrosser from somewhere in the world.

Why? Because, there are lots of people who like to receive real mail. The element of surprise of receiving postcards from different places in the world (many of which you probably have never heard of) can turn your mailbox into a box of surprises - and who wouldn't like that?

How does it work?

The first step is to request to send a postcard. The website will display (and send you an e-mail) with the address of another member and a Postcard ID (e.g.: US-786). You then mail a postcard to that member.

The member receives the postcard and registers it using the Postcard ID that is on the postcard. At this point, you are eligible to receive a postcard from another user. You are now in line for the next person that requests to send a postcard. Where the postcard comes from is a surprise!

You can have up to 5 postcards traveling at any single time. Every time one of the postcards you send is registered, you can request another address. The number of postcards allowed to travel at any single time goes up the more postcards you send!

HAPPY POSTCROSSINGS!

Tuesday Tunes

Yeah... I know... It has been a while since i've done a song of the week. I don't have any excuses. I've just been plain lazy.

I've decided to change song of the week to Tuesday Tunes. Kinda cheesy I know, but mom has her Monday Memories and Wednesday Words of Wisdom... and i'm sure there is something else, and I liked it so I made my own (picture is actually from Tuesday Tunes.)

I couldn't think of a song. It actually took forever to figure something out. I looked thru my iTunes to find something that would work, and finally found this song.

It is another song that my friend Jo introduced to me. A very beautiful song by the Dixie Chicks. This lullaby was written by the girls about their children. Very simple, very beautiful. It has become one of my favorites.

Lullaby

They didn't have you where I come from
Never knew the best was yet to come
Life began when I saw your face
And I hear your laugh like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

I slip in bed when you're asleep
To hold you close and feel your breath on me
Tomorrow there'll be so much to do
So tonight I'll drift in a dream with you

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

As you wander through this troubled world
In search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you're miles away
And hear my voice like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

cupcakes...

Mom was talking today about cupcakes... How they are the "in" thing right now and every magazine has cupcakes and all the different cupcake papers you can get now and such.

I love cupcakes. I love reading about cupcakes, i like looking at cupcakes, and if I actually baked I would love baking cupcakes.

I thought that I'd post some of my very favorite blogs. Blogs that I actually visit at least once a week, if not every day. Not all of them are cupcake blogs, most of them are, but some are just plain bakery blogs, or cake blogs. I hope you all enjoy what I have to share with you.

Lazy Rainy Days...

Today has been a lazy rainy day.

One thing I do miss about spring in Utah is the rain. Now don't get me wrong, I love it here in Arizona. I love the heat. I love the dryness, I love NO SNOW, but a lazy rainy day is so nice to just sit and cuddle up with a blanket and my dog in front of the television.

We've been sitting around the house today watching Deadwood. If you can handle bad language and a little sex and violence then this show is one to watch. It's mainly the language. It's Shakespeare in the Old West. The language, the cadence, the humor. I'm sad that it is going to end so soon. Only 3 season's aired on HBO. But this is one series I have enjoyed.

Sister Suzie

We had a guest for the night. Sis spent the night with us. I love spending time with her.

We ate pizza, watched Fraggle Rock, The Wizard of Oz, and played on the computer all night long. Well that is until she went to bed at 10.00 and me shortly there after.

Last night I noticed this shirt she had for today. When I looked at it I thought that it was so familiar. First i thought that it was just cause she's worn it before and such. Then I realized where I've seen it. She's been wearing it since she was 3. Back then it was a dress. her favorite dress. There were several days in a row where her mother couldn't get her to wear anything else besides this dress, and she's still wearing it today.

She's adorable. I sure do love my Sister Suzie!

Open Season and Froggie

Everyone knows Chloe by now. A few weeks ago I went out to Jenn and Jeremy's to watch the kids while they went to the Billy Joel/Elton John concert downtown.

While there I found out that Chloe girl liked Open Season. Open Season is a big brown bear (i think he is the bear from the movie Open Season) that belongs to Ashley. She used him as a pillow and cuddled up with him. It was adorable. I found out later that night that it was a common thing, and that Ashley had refused to give up Open Season.

A few days later mom and I were at Wal-Mart and I saw this bin of large stuffed animals. There were blue and pink bunnies, a white lamb, yellow duckies, and a green frog. I fell in love and knew that Chloe needed Froggie right away.

We took it out to her a few days later. It seems that she loves her Froggie that her Auntie Sarah got her.

Aren't they just adorable?

Happy Day!

Today was opening day of baseball season!

WOOHOOO!!!

Let the season begin!

I am a little sad however. This summer there will be no Raptors games with Dad. Maybe we'll have to catch a few Diamondback games this year. It is kinda cool that we live in a city now that has a Major League team. It's not the same as minor league, let alone Pioneer League. But there is nothing like watching a live game. I love it!

Nostalgia...

Mom mentioned earlier something about April 15th. The 15th of April is right in the middle of her birthday on the 7th of April and mine on the 22nd. That date reminded me of something.

This is how I remember it

When I was 7 I went into the hospital to have surgery. It was the first year that Cabbage Patch Kids were popular. While I was in the hospital they were having some kind of contest. I had to draw a picture of what I did in the hospital while I was staying. I drew a picture of me in the hospital bed, cause that's what I did all day there.

A short time later we found out that not many kids entered the contest and I actually got a prize. My Mom and I had to go to the hospital to pick it up. It was nearly Christmas so they had all the gifts wrapped in paper. There were a few of us there. After we opened them up we found out that each doll looked like their adoptive parent. Somehow mine, a cute little blonde girl, got mixed up with a little boy who had cancer, so he had no hair. They tried to trade the dolls, but he just wouldn't give him up, and I didn't mind the doll I got.

I ended up with Alvin Xavier Roberts. His birthday was April 15th. I always thought that was the coolest thing cause his birthday was right between mine and mom's. The next year for Christmas I got another Cabbage Patch Kid named Victoria. Her birthday was in October. The say day as my Grandmother's.

I no longer have my dolls. But I have great memories of the two of them. I always thought I was the coolest kid in the world because of them.

Hunting LIzards...

Lillee has a new passion. Well, i would say that it was more like an obsession than anything. Our sweet little girl has decided that hunting and chasing lizards is the best thing in the world. All day long she lays by the back door, out in the sun waiting to chase anything that should move.

Memories of a dog...

This evening I watched a movie. I know, big surprise, I watch lots of movies. But this one was a little different.

I watched Marley & Me. For those who don't know Marley & Me was just released on DVD. Based on the best-selling book by newspaper columnist John Grogan (the "Me" in the title), Marley & Me stars Owen Wilson, Jennifer Aniston and 22 different white Labs who play Marley at different times during his 14-year lifespan.

Marley, as John likes to put it, is the world's worst dog. The film is joyous and forgiving , celebratory and sympathetic. It's adorable when Marley first arrives as a puppy, howling all night and afraid of thunderstorms. Endearing as he grows into a big, lovable oaf that eats everything in sight. Celebratory as the family keeps growing, and heartbreaking as the movie comes to its inevitable end. This is not the film to watch if you don't want to be seen crying (which i ended up doing silently while watching with my dog in my bedroom).

This movie brought up loving memories of Jenn and Jeremy's first dog Annee. Annee was this adorable yellow lab puppy that we rescued one cold rainy night. It's a long story, but we saved her from a very horrible life. At least that is what we all like to believe. Like Marley she was afraid of thunderstorms and loud noises, unlike Marley however she was "The World's Best Dog". I miss our Annee Girl...

Hells Kitchen

I LOVE it.

I LOVE everything about it.

I LOVE him
.

I especially love the fact that she finally got kicked off the show. She so totally has been needing to go for WEEKS now. Well, then again I thought Lacey should have been gone like right from the beginning, but she just kept hanging on. And then again we aren't too happy with this season's cast. There seems to be not any real standouts.

Yes. I'm talking about Hells Kitchen. I'm talking about Gordon Ramsay's show. I'm talking about Gordon Ramsay and the fact that I totally love him.

In our house we are addicted to al things Ramsay. Okay... so maybe it's just me and mom... or maybe it's just me. *shrugs* We watch Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, Kitchen Nightmares Revisited, we even watch The F Word (which is a completely wonderful program run in the UK).

I know he isn't the popular choice among some groups because of the colourful words that come out of his mouth. But I think he's hilarious. I love watching him cook and I think that he's pure genius.

But then again. That is just my opinion.

April already?

I can't believe that it is April already.

That means that 3 months have passed.
One quarter of the year is already past.

I sit here and wonder where the time has gone.

Am I just getting old?
Does time really go as fast as it has?

i'm going to try out NaNoBlPoMo again.
Lets see if I can make it another whole month.
and lets see if this month goes as fast as the last have.
