Story Time

Okay. I'm going to tell you a story. A story that my family likes to tell over, and over, and over again.
This story is about the watermelon.

Yes... a watermelon. The watermelon that changed my life.

I was like 3 years old (okay maybe it was more like 6, but the younger I am sounds much better in this situation.) and my dad made me carry a watermelon into the house after a grocery shopping trip (as in I begged him to let me carry it cause I was a big girl and I could do it all by myself). Imagine it: a cute little blonde girl with this HUGE watermelon walking on the sidewalk to the apartment, and down stairs, and while going down the stairs, she drops it.

Yes.... I dropped the watermelon.

I have been tortured with this for the last 20 something years, and now it's out there for all the public that reads my blog. I just wanted to get it out there, and maybe my family wouldn't talk about it anymore.

I mean come on guys. It's over... It's done with. I'M 32 years old, and every time we have watermelon someone says something about not letting me carry it cause I'll drop it. I'm a big girl for real now.

so please... let me carry watermelon's again.

Tuesday Tunes: Life Is Okay

This week's Tuesday Tune is Life Is Okay by Michael Johns, featuring Brooke White.

I love this song. I love the way Brooke and Michael just harmonise together. I love the words, i love the melody. I love this song!

I'm just a daydreamer
One of those hopeless believers
I'm standing on the outside looking in

Life Is Okay
Michael Johns (2009) - feat. Brooke White

MJ: Well, I remember skies of blue
There's always someone you never knew
Life is okay

I think about those days gone by
When there was nothing but you and I
And life was okay

But I'm just a daydreamer
One of those hopeless believers
I'm standing on the outside looking in
Oh, tell me your name, baby
And don't you play games with my heart
And make me feel like I'm outside looking in

BW: I remember days gone by when the fire-lit skylight
Where it was only you and I, gonna live forever
The thoughts of you run through my head
And would take me back to that time again
But it was never gonna be you and me forever, forever

Baby, I'm just a daydreamer
One of those hopeless believers
I'm standing on the outside looking in
Oh, tell me your name, baby
And don't you play games with my heart
And make me feel like I'm outside looking in

BW: Ooh ooh
MJ: Oh yeah, yeah

Both: Oh, said no, no, no!
But I'm just a daydreamer
One of those hopeless believers
I'm standing on the outside looking in
Oh tell me your name baby
And don't you play games with my heart
And make me feel like I'm outside looking in

MJ: But I'm just a daydreamer, a hopeless believer
(BW: Oh, I remember days gone by when the fire-lit skylight)
MJ: I'm standing on the outside looking in..
(BW: Where it was only you and I, gonna live lookin' lookin' lookin'?)
MJ: Oh, tell me your name baby don't you play games with my heart
(BW: The thoughts of you go through my head and it would take me back to that time again but it was...)

Both: Never be gonna be you and me
Whoa, ooh
Outside looking in

Manic Monday

manic monday is a new spot. who knows what it's about, other than it will probably be a lot like random wednesday, seeing that's how my brain is going.

I didn't sleep well last night. I haven't been sleeping well for a few weeks now. *shrugs* maybe I'll get over it, but who knows when that will happen. I get my best sleep from about 8/8.30 when I put the dog out the first time, to 11/12.00.

woke up this morning with heartburn and acid reflux. I didn't eat anything after 9.00 last night. so yeah, that was just odd. kinda hurt too.

had to make a trip out to wal-mart to pick up my meds and my monthly stuff. wal-mart has CSI season 1-3 for $14.98 each. I purchased season 1 last month, this month I got 2 and 3... I'm hoping to be able to get more season's in the next coming months for the same price. I like CSI. Still one of my favorite shows.

taco bell is yummy. I like stopping by taco bell when I go out to wal-mart. I'm all stuffed full of crispy taco and 7 layer burrito minus on of the layers and dr. pepper... mmmm....

I need to vacuum. EVERYTHING! and the fans... Goodness they are bad... but I don't want to do it today. *sigh* guess i'll have to do that tomorrow.

My Saturday...

Lazy day...

Haven't even changed out of my pajamas

I don't think I will.

Been catching up on things that are on the DVR.

Maybe a nap later...

ETA: I got laundry done; mine, my bedding, and 2 loads of towels.

I got Tara up and working again (decided yesterday to stop working for a while), and i've been ripping disks all day. Trying to clean up the external drive.

I'm all caught up on Criminal Minds now... I'm hoping mom gets caught up while she's gone so that we can watch the season premier together this week.

nearly forgot...

If I didn't have people around to remind me of things I would not remember where I put my head.

It's after 11.00 and I've had a busy day, but it has been a great day.

Mom and Dad headed off to Ft. Mohave around 12.00

The kids and their parents showed up after 2.00

the parents left me with the kids around 3.00 to go to a temple session.

I spend the afternoon and evening and most of the night with 3 cute kids.

Ian and I watched 3 movies together. Sis and Ash watched cartoons and played in the pool (yes, it is still warm enough to play in the pool)

We ate pizza, had ice cream, and just had a great night all around. No fighting, lots of laughing. I love watching my kids. They really make me happy.

Now I just have to remember that as I go to sleep. I hate sleeping alone in this house. or any house for that matter.

NIGHT!

What???

Mom and I went to the store today and saw this...

It's getting to be that time of year that we actually have to think about these things.

Usually I buy my holiday cards the week before I need to have them out, and they aren't what I really am wanting or looking for. I look all season long and think I need to buy those when I find something I really like, but never do.

Well this year I did. I have already purchased my holiday cards. I'm hoping that planning ahead will get me further along this season. I've already got like 6 gifts finished (this year I'm making homemade presents for everyone.) so yeah. I feel like I'm doing okay.

random wednesday

I think she is getting a little desperate to be between mom and I. Sleeping on anything that is in the middle of us.

Tuesday Tunes...

Tuesday Tunes is exciting for me this week. I am SO excited about the new Kris Allen single.

So... this week's tune is the Kris Allen debut single from his yet to be titled new album to be released on November 17th. Live Like We're Dying was released yesterday. I've already listened to it like 15 million times.

I hope you enjoy!

Live Like We're Dying
Kris Allen (2009)

Sometimes we fall down, Can't get back up
We're hidin' behind skin that's too tough
How come we dont say I love you enough
Til its too late.... its not too late

Our hearts are hungry for a food that won't come
But we could make a feast from these crumbs
And we're all starin' down the barrel of a gun
So if your life flashed before you what would you wish you would have done

Gotta start

Looking at the hands of the time we been given
If this is all we got then we gotta start thinkin'
If every second counts on the clock thats tickin' Gotta live like we're dyin'
We only got 86 400 seconds in a day
To turn it all around or to throw it all away
Gotta tell em that we love em while we got the chance to say
Gotta Live like we're dyin'

And if your plane fell out of the skies
Who would you call with your last goodbye
Should be so careful who we let fall out of our lives
Or when we long for absolution there'll be no one on the line

We only got 86 400 seconds in a day
To turn it all around or to throw it all away
Gotta tell em that we love em while we got the chance to say
Gotta Live like we're dyin'
You never know a good thing til its gone
You never see a crash til its head on
Wny do we think we're right when we're dead wrong
You never know a good thing til its gone

Live like we're dyin'
Live like we're dyin'

We only got 86 400 seconds in a day
To turn it all around or to throw it all away
Gotta tell em that we love em while we got the chance to say
Gotta Live like we're dyin'

My Day...

My day has been spent watching How I Met Your Mother

I'd seen a few episodes here and there, and I had started watching the series weeks and weeks ago, but I never finished watching it.

Last night I was watching late night tv trying to get tired, and came across a couple episodes. So yeah. I have been watching it all day.

SOOOOO FUNNY!!! Marshall and Barney are the best things ever!

LOVE THE SHOW!

Dad has even been watching it with me. *GRINS*

Tuesday Tunes on Wednesday

This week I moved Tuesday Tunes to Wednesday because of Dad's birthday yesterday.

I've also put his song up a song from a movie that Dad is addicted to right now. When All Is Said And Done by ABBA, but sung by Pierce Brosnan in the 2008 film Mamma Mia!

We have seriously watched this movie 3 times in the past 4 days. I have to admit that I do love the movie. It's cute and fun and the music is the best! I got him the blu-ray edition for his birthday, and we watched it last night. With the words to the songs on the screen.

The things I do for my Dad... LOL

Anyway, this is my favorite song from the movie. I hope you all enjoy it!

When All Is Said And Done
ABBA (sung by Pierce Brosnan 2008)
Songwriters: Benny Andersson; Bjoern Ulvaeus

Here`s to us one more toast and then we`ll pay the bill
Deep inside both of us can feel the autumn chill
Birds of passage, you and me
We fly instinctively
When the summer`s over and the dark clouds hide the sun
Neither you nor I`m to blame when all is said and done

In our lives we have walked some strange and lonely treks
Slightly worn but dignified and not too old for sex
We`re still striving for the sky
No taste for humble pie
Thanks for all your generous love and thanks for all the fun
Neither you nor I`m to blame when all is said and done

It`s so strange when you`re down and lying on the floor
How you rise, shake your head, get up and ask for more
Clear-headed and open-eyed
With nothing left to try
Standing calmly at the crossroads,no desire to run
There`s no hurry any more when all is said and done

Standing calmly at the crossroads,no desire to run
There`s no hurry any more when all is said and done

Favorite Time of Year...

My favorite time of year is back:

(posted is 2008 Fall TV Preview cover of Entertainment Weekly)

I LOVE television.

I'm addicted to tv. I'm addicted to good tv, and what some people consider as bad tv.

I LOVE my Fall TV Preview from Entertainment Weekly. They give me the low down on all current shows running and all new shows.

I can't wait to sit down and just read my magazine from cover to cover!

Random Wednesday

~ Why do I become so invested in soap operas. I mean. General Hospital has got a story line going on right now that I so don't know why I am so involved.. but yeah. Soaps...

~ Do you have the same body temp as the "average" person? My average body temp runs about 97.4... I've had a 98.6 temp for the last couple of weeks. so I've been running a low grade fever. I guess it's time to call my doctor.

~ cheez-it adverts make me laugh.

~ why are some adverts so stupid? I just want to choke the guy on the new bounty one, where the guy is making latte's with his wife and he puts the steam on the cup. yeah. YOU DON'T MAKE THEM THAT WAY!!!

~ Judge shows make me laugh. The People's Court and Judge Judy especially. *grins*

~ I wish it would rain.

~ I LOVE my new knitting board! It is one of the best things EVER invented! I am abel to do knitting projects and not use my left hand when my wrist hurts!... LOVE IT!

~ Sporcle Games is a lot of fun!

Tuesday Tunes

So Mom told me today that I needed to post this song as my Tuesday Tune.

Erin sent Mom this song the other day and told her that it reminded her of their relationship. It is a sweet song, so I decided I'd go for it.

I hope you all enjoy!

The Best Day
Taylor Swift (2008)

I'm five years old, it's getting cold, I've got my big coat on
I hear your laugh and look up smiling at you, I run and run
Past the pumpkin patch and the tractor rides, look now, the sky is gold
I hug your legs and fall asleep on the way home

I don't know why all the trees change in the fall
But I know you're not scared of anything at all
Don't know if Snow White's house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day with you today

I'm thirteen now and don't know how my friends could be so mean
I come home crying and you hold me tight and grab the keys
And we drive and drive until we found a town far enough away
And we talk and window shop 'til I've forgotten all their names

I don't know who I'm gonna talk to now at school
But I know I'm laughing on the car ride home with you
Don't know how long it's gonna take to feel okay
But I know I had the best day with you today

I have an excellent father, his strength is making me stronger
God smiles on my little brother, inside and out, he's better than I am
I grew up in a pretty house and I had space to run
And I had the best days with you

There is a video I found from back when I was three
You set up a paint set in the kitchen and you're talking to me
It's the age of princesses and pirate ships and the seven dwarfs
And Daddy's smart and you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world

And now I know why the all the trees change in the fall
I know you were on my side even when I was wrong
And I love you for giving me your eyes
For staying back and watching me shine
And I didn't know if you knew, so I'm takin' this chance to say
That I had the best day with you today
